[ hi guys what's going on here --

rhys wakes and his arms are clutched around his stomach, his knees curled into his chest and his face half buried in the dirt. he doesn't move initially, taking a moment to just process where exactly he is and what exactly happened. he can't see out of his left eye for a moment, the technology slow to react after such a shock and he wonders if it's broken, if he'll need to get it replaced. then after a moment, it reconnects -- vision grey and blurry as it reboots, a contrast to his normal human eye and he sighs. he couldn't get it replaced anyway, he's dead.

when the thought pops into his mind, he curls in tighter on himself, lifting his hands from his stomach to grip into his hair as his eyes close again. he had so much to live for, so much he wanted to do. for hyperion, for pandora, he was going to be great. he was going to make something of himself and show everyone just the kind of man he was. now, he's dead. now, he can't even be sure if he'll return home. he misses helios with a deep ache and he almost regrets backstabbing vasquez if only because he didn't think that would be the last time he'd be on that space station. he wanted to do something great for the borderworlds, like handsome jack. ]

Jack...

[ it's the one thing he says, quiet and miserable and his fingers move to brush lightly over the usb port on his temple before he suddenly lets out a choked sob and presses the heels of his hands into his eyes. he's dead at the mercy of someone else's crusade, just like jack. he's dead before he could do anything and could truly be great, just like jack. he's dead and he's alone without his friends and family, just... like jack. he's really become his idol now, hasn't he? he... kind of wishes he could take it all back, or at least had jack here to share the burden with. sometimes, he misses jack the most. right now is one of those times.

rhys will stay here, dwelling in his capitalist misery for a while. he should probably move out of the dirt, explore the rest of the town, figure out what's next for him, but instead he... doesn't. instead, he stays here, curled into a ball, and doesn't bother getting up. that's really all he can do, feeling as hollow and broken as he does. ]
