(no subject)

You awaken to blackness. Frightening, although familiar--this is the same terrible thing you narrowly avoided during your first trip into Lebensbaum. The pain of your death is still real, echoes of the wounds you suffered appearing on your skin. Inspecting your surroundings will tell you that you've woken up inside of the cooled, empty bonfire pit....and the town as it was is nowhere to be seen.

The sky is a whirlwind of blank, dark void. What previously acted as roadblocks on either side of the town seems to have moved upward, blocking out most of the sun's light. The street is barren, filled with piles of broken concrete, shattered glass, and smoking craters where many of the buildings used to be. Old bloodstains dot the pavement, mixing in with overturned cars and crumbling brick walls. Lebensbaum is a dead town, in more ways than one.

Except for the hotel. It stands, as dusty and abandoned as it ever was, but no worse for the wear. Scorch marks can be seen on the ground around it in a clear border, as though it had a barrier protecting it from whatever destroyed the village. If you venture inside, everything is in its place, as though the outside wasn't completely obliterated.

Concentrating will let you be able to see the living as they move around the hotel, going about their days--or perhaps doing something more sinister. It's only when they cross the scorched border that their already-flickering images fade from view entirely.

You're welcome to roam about. Doing so may even be beneficial, as you'll quickly discover that you aren't quite alone here.

Some additional points of reference, as asked:
References for the locked rooms
• No one will be wearing their talismans
• No one will feel hunger or thirst, though they can sleep if they wish

WEEK 5, WEDNESDAY (torture planning top level)

[Takao stands outside the hotel with his hands on his hips, tapping his feet. What a fun game, to watch any given teenager gathering supplies (for the party? He saw Roxy's sign) disappear as soon as the intrepid explorer ventures outside once more. This close to the bonfire pit, there's a terrible twisting in his stomach when he thinks of the humans so much like him who are still--

He steps away, approaches some of the other ghosts wherever they're milling around.]

So, it looks like there's gonna be a party again. How about us? Last week was pretty fun, gotta say.

If the lot of you still want to do somwthing about our situation it's your best bet.

[He's still not on board the whole "let's save someone" boat, but it's not like he has anything better to do.]

I mean, we could just barge in during lunch if we wanna expose to everyone, but last time things were kind of rough so it's not the best idea to do that around forks and knives. [He misses chopsticks. Those would be safer.]

The biggest gathering besides lunch would be... gate-crashing the party, probably.

Unhunh. Must have sucked to die a virgin.

[HE'S JUST SAYING.... You ever even held someone's hand Takao. But okay, okay.]

If we're going to do anything we need a pwrson first. We can't just be generic here. If we have a personality we know how they think. And if we know how they think--

[They can direct their thoughts. The important part. He shrugs.]

So what's our attendee list looking like?

Well, if I'd spent summer break checking into love hotels instead of training camp lodges, someone would probably be telling me "musta sucked to die without ever going to the Winter Cup". Can't have it all, right? I'm only human.

[He doesn't make eye contact as he says it, just chuckles lowly as he glances back to the living and assesses their positions. Like players on a court, people are easy to track for Takao.]

Some of the ones definitely going are Faize, Alisha, Lucy, Roxy, Hinata, and... Inaba-san.

[The emotion in his voice ascends with each name.]

There's no way a nerd like her has never heard of Kokkuri-san. I don't know if they'll actually get around to setting it up, though, so we'll need a backup plan.
