You awaken to blackness. Frightening, although familiar--this is the same terrible thing you narrowly avoided during your first trip into Lebensbaum. The pain of your death is still real, echoes of the wounds you suffered appearing on your skin. Inspecting your surroundings will tell you that you've woken up inside of the cooled, empty bonfire pit....and the town as it was is nowhere to be seen.
The sky is a whirlwind of blank, dark void. What previously acted as roadblocks on either side of the town seems to have moved upward, blocking out most of the sun's light. The street is barren, filled with piles of broken concrete, shattered glass, and smoking craters where many of the buildings used to be. Old bloodstains dot the pavement, mixing in with overturned cars and crumbling brick walls. Lebensbaum is a dead town, in more ways than one.
Except for the hotel. It stands, as dusty and abandoned as it ever was, but no worse for the wear. Scorch marks can be seen on the ground around it in a clear border, as though it had a barrier protecting it from whatever destroyed the village. If you venture inside, everything is in its place, as though the outside wasn't completely obliterated.
The living can be seen walking around, going about their daily lives, and if you concentrate, you can even see the buildings as they once were--in working order, clean, and in one piece.
As of Monday on Week 10, however, there is a door, seemingly pasted into the middle of the street. As the days tick by, the doors will increase in number, one for each victim.

cw: ....insect-related things all over this thread

...I'm not sure what I expected, but in retrospect, there was a fly on the door.
[She wrinkles her nose. Flies and maggots are pretty common on the corpses Orin hauls home, but they're still really gross...]

If this turns out to be a waste of our time, I'm doing everyone a favour and burning the place down on our way out.

It is disgusting in here. Picture a typical northern February and you've got it--downcast, rainy, bitingly cold, and filled with melting snow turning into a gross gray slush. Surrounding the beaten patch of land they arrive on is a frozen lake, though patches look very weak or are already broken, showing the muddy brown water beneath.
There's also scattered clouds of flies and, congratulations Satori, patches of maggots on the ground.
Might wanna utilize your flight here, folks. ]

[THIS IS FUCKING TERRIBLE??? Satori has never been happier to not be wearing slippers, but it's a small comfort. She's definitely going to start hovering, covering her nose instinctively. Even if it doesn't smell corpsey, it's reflex by this point. She's casually trying to wave any approaching flies with her other hand.]

Vegeta doesn't mind walking through the slush in his boots, but he does lift up off the ground as he passes by the maggots, studiously not looking down at them. Instead he heads over to the frozen lake, trying to see if there's anything moving in there. He's learned.]

Otherwise, there's only one semi-neat path from their current position. Semi-neat meaning "not a complete pile of mud and maggots."

...Given the way the rest of this place looks, I wouldn't be surprised if something even worse waited down that way...
[She points.]
...Though on the other hand, it will probably be more interesting than bugs.

I wouldn't bet on it.
[But "life" has been really boring ever since he died, so any chance of adventure must be taken. Vegeta will step away from the water and follow the path. He floats over particularly gross patches of maggots but otherwise mostly walks, not wanting to waste his limited air time.]
Those other bastards find dragons and what do we get? Typical.

Several instances of movement. ]

[As soon as she finishes speaking, those rapid movements start. Satori isn't much of a fighter, but she holds her arm out, ready to attempt some danmaku.]
...You can have whatever these things are, too, if you'd like.

He slips away from where he let his bells ring, betting ready to pounce on the movement if it gets close enough. Fortunately cats see well in dark light, and don't seem to be as easily bothered by the smell of rot.
He's definitely taking a bath after this though.]

Well, well, well...
[Hey, you know who else can move really fast? Vegeta picks up the pace, rushing forward so fast he can't actually be seen except for when he pauses to watch the figures in the distance. He moves silently and keeps moving closer until he can hopefully get some idea of what they are. People? Animals? Something else?]

Of all the creatures in the world, flies are the ones that least deserve to be this big...!

[Vegeta looks more bored than grossed out. Giant bugs he's used to. He watches them approach for a moment and then, being a prince trained in the fine art of diplomacy, he fires a ki blast at the nearest one.]
