(no subject)

You awaken to blackness. Frightening, although familiar--this is the same terrible thing you narrowly avoided during your first trip into Lebensbaum. The pain of your death is still real, echoes of the wounds you suffered appearing on your skin. Inspecting your surroundings will tell you that you've woken up inside of the cooled, empty bonfire pit....and the town as it was is nowhere to be seen.

The sky is a whirlwind of blank, dark void. What previously acted as roadblocks on either side of the town seems to have moved upward, blocking out most of the sun's light. The street is barren, filled with piles of broken concrete, shattered glass, and smoking craters where many of the buildings used to be. Old bloodstains dot the pavement, mixing in with overturned cars and crumbling brick walls. Lebensbaum is a dead town, in more ways than one.

Except for the hotel. It stands, as dusty and abandoned as it ever was, but no worse for the wear. Scorch marks can be seen on the ground around it in a clear border, as though it had a barrier protecting it from whatever destroyed the village. If you venture inside, everything is in its place, as though the outside wasn't completely obliterated.

The living can be seen walking around, going about their daily lives, and if you concentrate, you can even see the buildings as they once were--in working order, clean, and in one piece.

As of Monday on Week 10, however, there is a door, seemingly pasted into the middle of the street. As the days tick by, the doors will increase in number, one for each victim.

[ oh, gosh. rhys just looks a little flattered, even blushing a little when break says he would have spared him. ]

Oh.

[ he's so... charmed... what the hell. ]

Uhm. Yeah. I mean, that's not really that many people. Have none of these people met a real Vault Hunter? They just go around, shooting and looting. It's like... a thing. Whatever. If a Vault Hunter was here, things would have gone much differently.

[ Rhys... This is embarrassing. This is embarrassing because now Break can see it, and he can only respond by gently bullying. ]

Ahhh, my goodness, I hope you haven't been reacting like that every time you've responded this way! You're generally not supposed to blush when someone says "ah, I would have killed a lot of people, but not you, though."

[ Though, to be fair, this is still pretty light bullying by Break standards. After all, he doesn't linger on it, and instead moves onto what Rhys actually says. ]

Hmm, but I don't think you've mentioned Vault Hunters before. I can take a guess from the name, but all the same, what do they do~?

[ UGHHHH SIGHT IS THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO RHYS, FUCK.

just going to bury his face in his hands now and mumble: ]

Don't judge meeeee.

[ he keeps his face in his hands too even as break asks about vault hunters and well, what's a better example of all this than zer0? oh gosh, he should talk about zer0. ]

They're like... adventurers. They go planet to planet, killing bandits, finding treasure, performing political assassinations. That kind of thing! There's this one guy, Zero? That's what he goes by. Uh, at least I think he's a he? He might be an alien, he wears a mask and never talks -- oh, well, I mean. When he talks, it's in haiku. How cool is that?

[ and now he's all giddy and flaps his hands a little, looking eagerly at break. ]

Zero is like... oh man, he uses a sword. This neon blue sword and he once let me us the sword and I sliced skag in half and it was amazing even though I was covered in blood and then I thought he DIED but he DIDN'T because he was just a HOLOGRAM AND IT WAS SO COOL, BREAK. IT WAS SO COOL!!!

[ he's definitely grabbed break's shoulders to giddily jump up and down as he talks about zer0. that's a thing that's happening. ]

If Zero were here, he probably would've killed everyone in like two seconds because he goes invisible and uses kunai sometimes and also haiku! Did I mention the haiku? Oh my god, it's so cool and he's so cool and he thinks I'm cool. He thinks I'm cool and one day I'm gonna hire him to do a job for me and maybe, I don't know, maybe I could ask him out for a drink or something? Oh my god, do you think he'd say yes? He might say yes. Oh my god, Zero's so cool, Break. He's so cool. He once gave me a heart and I like, died.

[ Break snickers at Rhys's misery at first, but oh, how that changes. After all, Break had no idea what kind of door he was opening here by asking such a simple question, and the explanation he get, while thorough, is also so much more than he was expecting. Or even really asking for????

He's with Rhys at the start, but as he starts getting giddy, Break's expression starts to flatten. It just gets flatter and flatter until it's at a state of casual, friendly judgement, even as Rhys is grabbing his shoulders and jumping up and down.

He takes back his earlier thought. This is much more embarrassing. ]

You know, somehow, I have the impression that you think this Zero fellow is cool.

[ ]

...Also, why did he give you a heart? [ Because Break is definitely taking that literally, and what the fuck rhys ]
